Breathe

Query

I sat in relax meditation after the breathing process, there was a short moment when my breathing and heartbeat slowed/calm down to the extent that I was hardly breathing. In that moment I felt that my mind/brain was going light and feeling like blacking out. It scares me a bit and I quickly took a deep breathe and came out of that situation. Is this a normal phenomenon? Is it because maybe I am holding my breathe and thus depriving oxygen to the brain to cause this blacking out feeling? Please advice me. Thank you.

Answer

The slowing down of the  breathing happens due to the Alpha state of mind where the actual breathing shall fall down to 7-8 per minute. In normal condition we breath 14-15 times in a minutes this keeps the conscious mind active while at 7-8 cycles per minute the connection door between the subconscious and Supra-consciousness gets opened leading one to go deeper into the state of meditation. In pure meditation the breathing shall fall down to 3-4 cycles per minute.

In the beginning the mind will bring to front the concept of fear so let it be for it is not as if you have stopped breathing rather your breathing is becoming naturally calm and quiet. This fear tells you that you have started moving in the right direction, so dear friend welcome to club of meditators and enjoy the bliss without any fear(False Evidence Appearing Real).
