Enlightenment

During a recent trip to Rudraprayag I truly enjoyed a moment when I met a good person who during few moments of talking said “I have taken bath in the holy river of Alaknanda, my sins have been removed. I have been taking bath in all great rivers to remove the sins. My sins will be removed as per the scriptures, I believe, what do you say?”

I was watching a top of the new constructed temple, and I saw the monkeys. I pointed the monkeys to the person and said “It is such a good thing that you have been walking on the path of purifying yourself in the river. So true all rivers are holy. But do you know that most of river banks have monkeys living on trees.”

 The person also looked at the top and said “Yes lots of trees and monkeys I have seen”

I kept looking at the monkey and said “See the monkeys and squirrels keep focusing on people going to take bath. The moment a single person who goes to river to take bath, all the sins leave his body and occupy the tree’s nearby. Monkeys guard them and as soon as the individual comes out of water, the monkeys take a glance at the tree announcing the arrival of the individual. The moment the indication is provided all the sins hiding in the tree leaves jump back to the person. The rustling sound of the tree is there moments sins jump, it is also possible that you may be accepting other people’s sin for you might be a better person for the sin to survive. So, I believe the whole effort of taking such a bath is futile, wherein you might be loaded with your sins as well as sins of other people.”

The person looked at me for sometime. And then few people were emerging from the river and changed the clothes. Luckily the wind happened and the rustling of tree leaves happened. I could see the fear emerging in his eyes.

“So nothing changes.” He said with a sad face and his hands were throughout his body, maybe sensing newer sins.

I didn’t say anything but nodded and He walked away silently.

This is what people have been tuned to, they are following stories in the name of religion and scripture. So I added one more, but maybe one more who might not follow the same blindly. The banks of all major rivers are captured by religious followers who keep extracting there share of business through the fear generated by misconstrued quotations, myths and stories . They work on the stories for the sins or piousness none can see, they are invisible, so it is easier to create more and more stories for the people to follow at multiple levels.

He who understands this beautiful concept becomes a Aghora. Aghora burns away what is myth, stories, legends and fake things to show the truth, a truth for one to experience and live in the most beautiful manner. This is the food of a Aghora, to burn all the waste into ashes and stand on the dust holding the sparkling truth in form fire for the world to see. Aghora shows the light to the world, being in the world, but his ways and behaviour may look eccentric or bizarre to many and for more it may be the most mad thing they have seen or felt.
